What is the Global Studies Initiative?

Global Studies courses are part of a unique program that combines integrated curricula with internationally prominent guest speakers ; discover how globalization is transforming the world and you with it.

100-Level Courses

The new Global Studies program offers first-year students several 100-level courses encompassing religious studies, history, and English that have been restructured to focus on common themes in globalization. All of the courses fulfill general education requirements, and students may enroll in more than one (although some course material will overlap). Each course introduces you to world cultures as it teaches you how to recognize and critically assess the forces of globalization.  You will explore how people across the globe are retaining and remaking their cultural identity as you explore who you are and how you fit in tomorrow's world.

Guest Speakers

All Global Studies courses will meet as a group several times during the semester to hear prominent guest speakers.
